a Cloud, in .7 seconds
Yes, “point-seven seconds”—that’s like a tenth of a second per Laurea-drawn cloud-puff. And who among us would draw a different Fastest Possible Cloud? I sat down to draw clouds last weekend, and they are much harder to draw than this one (you know, for reference). For an object that so often stands in for something else (“Hey, it’s a horse! No, it’s a roller skate!”), clouds are far more shapeless in practice than you’d expect. It’s all “wispy” overlaid with “fluffy” overlaid with “invisible”. By the end of my efforts, I had spent an hour staring at the sky, hoping to see a cloud that looked like a Cloud—like this Fastest Possible Cloud—which, while generally fruitless (“Hey, it’s a nose!”), turned out to be a really pleasant way to pass the time. That said, my clouds were pretty crap.
